Turns out the Gemfields is ideally placed to view the daytime solar eclipse this Wednesday (14th November 2012).

Actually, it looks like it won't be a TOTAL eclipse if you are in the Gemfields. The deal is it starts about 6.38am on Wednesday 14th, when the moon passes in front of the Sun. The "path of totality" map below shows that you'll need to be in Nth Qld for a total eclipse.

Might be a bit darker than usual tomorrow morning though!

We got a bit of it here in NZ. The light went a bit 'strange' for a while. Wondered how it would have been over in the Gemfields, as Darwin was getting the total eclipse. I think we got about 75% but didn't have any old x-rays to look at it through!
